"The public should be educated that using the delete function or
reformatting the hard drive is not enough to erase all your information
before releasing that media out of your control. The common method of
overwriting data using the right patterns enough times will prevent most
people from recovering anything intelligible. However, to be absolutely
positive that your data will be protected is to send it to its grave along
with the media by physically destroying it beyond repair."

Other interesting notes as well. To emphasize: We're talking hard drives,
not floppies.
