<T-Mobile does not allow off network roaming>
Thanks for telling me that! I didn't read the small print.

Mary - I am very "frugal" and Matthew is correct - when you buy those cheap
T-Mo prepaid sim cards off eBay they are already activated with a phone number
and generally you cannot change it (but sometimes you can) - thus it would be a
long distance call from a phone other than cell to that CA number. Unlocking
is making a phone work with T-Mo that was originally a Cingular or AT&T phone.
It's easy to do on a Nokia 3595 but I have never done it on other phones. But
if you want to maintain the same local phone number my idea of buying a prepaid
sim is not for you. Of course since the CA phone number is long distance you
could have family members call you and hang up - then you could just call them
back by checking your caller id missed calls (let's face it I'm cheap). DB
