Hi everyone!

A couple of friends of mine are both sports fans. He is sighted and she is blind. When football or baseball season is on, he will be watching the TV and she'll be listening to the radio, because she has the same problem of lack of description from the TV. She says it's kind of funny, though, because the radio and TV don't match up, due to the different media, so he'll be cheering and she'll have to wait until the radio catches up to find out what the excitement is about. All of that frivelous talk instead of giving play-by-plays on TV is boring.

I think you all are missing the point, it isn't the language, it is the act they don't describe anything. Same is true on baseball on tv, they don't really tell you what is happening. tv might say strike three, maybe. The radio would say he swung at ball 4 the pitch was way outside. It isn't the language, it is what they don't say.

I'm totally used to it. I wouldn't want somebody to talk to me any other way, because it's normal speech. There have only been a couple of times when I have gotten my back up, because somehow, I thought the person who said it to me was actually really expecting me to see it. I don't know how to explain it; it's something that you have to be there for the specific experience. Other than that, saying stuff like that is just normal. And who wants to be considered abnormal? Pam.

Hi Alan:

I just want to comment that I have been blind all my life, so I am
used to references such as "look at that". I just don't pay attention
and I am not the least bit offended. When they say "look at that. He
dropped the ball." I know that he dropped the ball and that's all I
need to know. But of course, that's only my point of view and I guess
I can understand why many people do not share that point of view.

The NFL season is about to start. The NFL wants you to shell out $99.99
 for
the 2017 season. watching the games on television is worthless to me
because they say things such as look at that! He dropped the ball! Fumble!
where has if you listen to the radio, you get a full audio description.
 The
NFL just can't get that through their effing heads. I don't need coaches
Phil or any of that crap. I have been complaining for several seasons
 that
it is not fair that I have to pay 100 bucks the audio pass only cost 40
colors are year until the and FL got really. greedy. I'm just not going to
 pay them $100 this year
