Hi all,
Since you were so helpful with my previous questions about automatic
templates, I thought I'd submit the latest twist for your advice (in
the hope that perhaps I had just missed something... again!!).
So I learned how to do different automatic templates for contacts in
my AB. Great! But now I can't seem to get the templates to pop up the
way I expected them to. I can see three ways of composing a new mail
message, and I think that all three *should* have automatic templates,
but as far as I can tell, only Methods I and II do.
Method I:
Open Address Book. Select contact. Create new message. Edit message
window opens with the proper template, no problem.
Method II:
If I click on the down arrow next to the Compose Mail button, and
select an address from my Favorites list, then the Edit message window
opens, with the template, no problem.
Method III:
If click on the Compose Message button itself, then there doesn't seem
to be an *automatic* way to invoke the template. I can select someone
from my favorites/recent list (using the down arrow at the end of the
To field), and no template shows up. Same outcome if I type the handle
into the "To" field (even if the Bat recognizes the handle and
completes typing it in for me). The same contacts that work in Methods
I & II don't work in Method III. It seems that once I have the Edit
Message window open, then the only way to get a template into it
(without opening the AB) is to select a Quick Template from the
Utilites/Insert Quick Template menu. But that doesn't give me access
to templates that are defined in the address book! And even if it did,
that would still mean an extra step, compared to just typing in the
addressee & having the template show up automatically.
So... did i miss something (again)? or do I always have to preselect
my addressee? I'd much rather type the first few letters of the
addressee in, have the Bat complete the address by recognizing it from
my list of favorites, and see the proper template pop up
automatically. As you might guess, this is my preferred way to
compose new mail messages, and I find it much more natural than having
to hunt in my address book or in a popup list.
Thanks in advance!
Havivah
