Since you are talking about addressees that are in your AB, try to not
manually type the recipient's address, but insert from address book
(click on the AB icon on the right-hand side of the TO line).
Then, once you have the TO address from the address, quickly click
into the (still empty) message body. This should work.
If you type the address in manually, my guess is that there might be
an upper case / lower case descrepency.
This will not work if you have typed anything into the message body
yet.
