I just tried it this way and as soon as I put the cursor in the edit
window the template changed. I tried it with four different addresses
and they all worked so I doubt it is this.

Just a thought but you do have the "Use specific template for new
messages" box ticked for each address book entry that you want to use
the template for. Other than that I can't find anything.

Well you should update but I'm sure what your trying to do should work
with 1.45.
