Hi Norbert,

On 31 March 2001 at 15:56:36 +0000 (which was 16:56 where I live)
Norbert Lieckfeldt wrote to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and made these
points:

It is not possible to add custom X-Headers with TB.
Many TB users use third party software to add headers.
TB *always* adds an X-Mailer header showing the current version.
Many TB users use third party software to eliminate this header.

Because of this last point, it is a *list rule* that users include
their TB and OS version in any list postings.

NL> 2) if the PGP signature has the effect to insert an extra '-'

Completely MUA independent - nothing you can do about it.

NL> 3) if this extra '-' does not affect the sig separator then why
NL> does a 'reply' not cut out the signature?

Mine does. So do other TB users who have implemented the PGP-safe
quoting macro. Xnews/4.01.30 is unlikely to support such an operation
however.

<shrug> That doesn't stop PGP being a "good thing" (tm). It is PGP
that is breaking that *recommendation* (it isn't a standard BTW), not
TB. However, TB is flexible enough to allow a work-around. The
"majority of people" also don't seem troubled by it - i.e. users of OE
and Eudora seem quite comfortable too.

It's a shame it doesn't support the upcoming standards forced upon us
by PGP then. Nothing to do with TB I'm afraid. Us TB users are just
gloating that it doesn't bother us <g>.
