Well, instead of receiving 100 tbudl messages for the day, you just
receive one. It therefore cuts down on your traffic and makes it
easier for you to review messages on a perday basis (I find this
useful for lists that I'm not really very interested in). You still
maintain the ability to browse the messages in a threaded manner,
something you cannot do with a long non-MIME digest. You can easily
jump from one message to the other and back. You can reply to the
occasional message and maintain the necessary header information of
the single message to which you're replying. You can easily delete
messages within the digest and you can easily copy and store
messages as you like.
