I'm an
active STC member and a participant.
I've
volunteered to judge in the past three years' chapter competitions, and this
year it appears that I'm a co-chair for our competition, according to the
chapter newsletter. :-) I couldn't take on being the competition
chair because of too many other issues, but I volunteered to take care of the
judging facility and food issues. Apparently that was enough to rate me a
co-chair title.
Judging in the competitions gives me a nice view of what others in the
tech comm profession are doing, and we've picked up ideas for improving our
own docs.
I've
only attended a few chapter meetings, and have never been to a convention, but
I'd like to do more. That will happen eventually -- I've got
three young kids who are active in school and scouting, and that takes a
LOT of time!
Already talked to my manager about '07 in Minneapolis, and I've got my
fingers crossed for that. And if any of our entries make it on to National
competition, even better!
