Hmmmmm, for most companies I've ever worked for, the documentation > > really
is just an incidental to their real product. I've never worked > > for Random
House. What am I missing?
Hmm Interesting question? Never really thought about it. Our documentation is
considered support for our product, yet it can't go out without the
documentation, so that would make it more than just incidental. :)

As far as how the tech writing department is treated here...being that I am the
tech writing department , I would have to say it depends on the day, and the
developer. They are told that I am as important as any other member of the
team, some buy it and some don't. I have come to know who I have to work harder
with and who I can trust to keep me in the loop.

I am pretty sure that my office is pretty much like every other small office, I
like what I do and I like the people...Beats digging ditches as my Daddy used
to say! :)
