Hi all,

I have not done much travel in my current job, though last summer our
whole doc team took a "field trip" to one of our clients-a state
penitentiary!-to see how they're using our software.

However, in my previous job, and even during my three-year stint as an
indie, I got to do some travel for my former employers. Travel included
professional development meetings with other writers (some of whom I had
previously worked with for months or even years without meeting in
person); professional conferences, usually as a presenter; training
sessions; and professional development education courses.

I really enjoy traveling, and I kinda miss it here, but the fact is that
1) it *was* beginning to wear a bit thin, and 2) I really didn't enjoy
traveling nearly as much without my family. Seems like something always
went awry on the home front the minute I stepped on the plane and got in
the air. ;o)

We have offices all over the world, and yes, we too have tried to get
our manager to let us go abroad, but so far, no cigar. *He* does a lot
of traveling (he does more than just manage us), but unfortunately, the
company doesn't seem to think we need to. Can't figure out why...

:oP

Now, back to work. Hyah!!

Chuck
