When I started as a staff technical writer at Netscape, the woman who had been handling NSAPI documentation as a contractor moved on. Later, when I bailed on Netscape and a recruiter presented my resume to the Internet Tools pubs group at Symantec, the same woman was managing the group -- as a full-time contract manager. She hired me, saying "well, he never tracked me down to ask questions about the stuff I left him with at Netscape, so he must be solid." --Guy K.
