I totally agree. It takes very little effort to set up an auto responder telling the applicant that you have received their resume. That in itself alleviates a lot of phone calls, because you can put in the auto response that only qualified applicants will be contacts. "If you don't hear from us in two weeks...." There are many reasons for not creating the auto responder, but most of it comes down to ignorance of how to set them up, or just plan laziness.
