It makes absolutely no sense to most people, but my wife drives her Civic three miles each way to work everyday and averages ~34mpg and I drive my F-150 Lariat thirty miles each way to work every day. I get ~19mpg highway but tend to finish a tank around 17mpg between random other trips and just getting out of and back into town. The thing of it is, though, I enjoy my ride and if I have to spend and hour everyday in a vehicle - I might as well enjoy it: I personally would not get enough pleasure out of saving half of my fuel costs by driving the Civic as I get from driving my Lariat... I face some difficult driving conditions in the winter months and it occasionally comes in super handy to have my own truck at work, but more than anything else, I pay and extra $25 a week on fuel to really enjoy my ride - we pinch pennies in other places.
