I'm currently reading "Seeker" by Jack McDevitt. He's a a sci-fi author that was recommended by the Science Fiction Book Club, so I decided to give him a try. I'm really enjoying the book! The lead character is antiquities dealer/archeologist in the far future. Sort of like a sci-fi Indiana Jones (but for profit).
To give you an idea of how well McDevitt's sci-fi is received, here are a couple excerpts from reviews:
McDevitt is now being compared, quite legitimately, to Arthur C. Clarke,
and not only because he has a similar kind of grand vision of the human
future among the stars. He also has characters with amiable, or
not-so-amiable, quirks, who in the middle of deciphering the secrets of
lost races take time to worry about where to get a good meal in the next
town.
Jack McDevitt won the Philip K. Dick Award for his first
novel,
The Hercules Text, and the first UPC prize for his novella,
"Ships in the Night." He has been nominated for the Nebula and
Hugo for his novella, "Time Travelers Never Die",
The Engines of God was an Arthur C. Clarke Award finalist and
his novel, Ancient Shores, was a Nebula finalist in 1998.
Good, mature science fiction.

So, I just started reading Daniel Suarez's sequel to Daemon, Freedom. Man,
this series is so damn good. I highly recommend both books to everyone,
especially to the tech literate.
Now I am looking forward to the next book I will read. I have a wish list
but I wanted to get your input. I'm a huge Stephen King fan so I am
thinking my next book may be Under the Dome as everyone keeps raving about
how good it is. But, I am debating on a different title.
Not long ago, io9 posted an article about a book titled Altered Carbon by
Richard K. Morgan. Here is the article:

I've never heard of Morgan but I thought I would give this a try anyhow.
Has anyone else read this book? If so, do you recommend?
What are you reading right now and what else would you recommend to me?
I pretty much like everything: sci-fi, thrillers, horror, suspense,
action, and even fantasy from time to time.
