You can start with any of the standalone Rollins stories in order to get a feel for his writing style. To describe them in terms of geography, depending on your interest: Amazonia = well... duh. Ice Hunt (the first one I ever read) = Northern Alaska/Bering Sea Subterreanean = below the South Pole Excavation = Andes mountains Altar of Eden = Baghdad Deep Fathom = take a guess... ;-) As for the SIGMA series, I would recommend starting with Sandstorm. James is right in that its a prequel of sorts, but it starts you down the path with the first primary character. Map of Bones is the first true SIGMA Force book under that flag. Rollins also wrote the novelization for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- for whatever that's worth. ;-) Another great series we've enjoyed over the last 15 years is the Pendergast series of books from Doug Preston/Lincoln Child. They started way back with The Relic (a failed movie adapation) and have about 10 books in that character line.
