But the Iron Man they built up in the comic was both very different from the film character AND never even seen by the vast bulk of moviegoers. There's almost never a full synchronization between a comic and film version of a story; the couple I can think of (300, Sin City) were self contained stories with a concrete ending, not an ongoing series. If nothing else I don't think you could get a producer, director, and screenwriter to all be of the same artistic mindset as a comics author.
