Also, Van, I suppose I am the hardly anyone you refer to, as I have been an Iron Man fan for a long long time myself, and have constantly bemoaned the jettisoning of his history to line up with the movie.
My point wasn't that Hawkman needed to be popular in the comics to have a movie. Just that the character is in a weird place right now and needs to be back on track before worrying about other media.
