I see almost no effect of being in vs out of the DNS here.  The same
half-dozen clients that hit me every single second are there in
either case.

Net traffic is about 8 packets of second when I'm out and 10 when I'm in.

What really makes a different in network traffic is whether my ntp
server is locked to the radio clock or not.  If I'm not locked
(antenna falls off, etc.) traffic goes up by a factor of four or five.
Evidently the bozo client software out there sees that I'm not locked
and therefore need to get queried way more often.  Somebody from the
OpenNTP camp tried to explain this to me once but I never figured it out.
