Yeah, you gave an example of someone in Korea (which would use asia/seoul as a timezone) might have to connect to a server in Japan (which would be in the asia/tokyo timezone) via the US. And then you suggest that just using the global zone would be better, even if it had that meant connecting to a server in the Netherlands. Sorry if I didn't find your explanation very convincing. > Even then, it would require that the > people writing the configuration generator programs to support > looking at those, and we have no more control over that than we do > over anything else they write. Right, we have no more control over letting people use a timezone subgroup of the pool than the current continent or country subgroups. > Now, if you want to put the attitude aside and help us work on > real solutions to the problems we're facing, I would welcome that and > I'm sure that others would also. Yeah, I know. I had these simple scripts that I used to run that measured my NTP server load over time. I started to point out the growing server load and you dismissed it because I didn't have enough data. So, I polished up the scripts and now quite a few people are using them and looking at the results of those scripts, it appears my initial data wasn't too far off. > Otherwise, you're just spewing attitude onto the list, and that > doesn't really do anyone any good. I'm not sure that your spewing of your condescending attitude to the list is very productive either. -wayne _______________________________________________ timekeepers mailing list [email protected] https://fortytwo.ch/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/timekeepers
