I strongly support the idea of making OpenERP use proper wording.
As a user and a translator I'd be really disappointed if 5.2 was as bad as 5.0
in this area.
We can do it efficiently when the application is in "feature freeze" (like next
December).
When the English is OK, we can then start translating - some projects even do a
"string freeze" to help translators.
Some changes are obvious ("childs", "softwares", "futur"). Those should be
changed ASAP.
Others deserve public discussion (I like the term "packing" a lot for example).
Ideally we should make up a dictionary of the terms, and include it in the
documentation.
We certainly need a dedicated team for this. Would you agree to use a Launchpad
team ?
Also, if we change the "name" of an object, we must change it everywhere in the
application. A partial fix will do a lot more harm than good.
Would you agree to use bug reports to discuss each change?
And as rvalyi wrote we can use a branch to make the changes easy to merge into
the trunk.
I once created one :
https://code.launchpad.net/~openerp-community/openobject-addons/wording_improvement
It's out of sync but we could update it.
