This is the result of developers not being native English speakers, it is normal. I think this is no problem to make changes, because misleading labels are much worse than when form is a bit different from documentation. People who are proficient in their field, will never use one, if the label will be correct.
Anyway I think there should not be very hard to make rework on core forms for accounting. Take terminology from software that has been on market for years. Terminology is not copyrighted, and we should not reinvent a wheel. Having incorrect labels has several implications: 1. much more difficult learning process; 2. software looks green for experienced professionals (people who make final decision on which system to choose); 3. incorrect names result in incorrect translations; 4. harder to translate in launchpad; 5. incorrect terminology propagates to other modules, and as time passes it will be harder and harder to correct them; ... Suggestion to treat the terminology problems as bugs, in essence they are the same.
