I totally agree! Madness are far better than any of
the new so-called 'bands' around today. I get the p*ss
taken non-stop by people my own age(15) who cant
believe my favourite band formed in the 70's. I tell
them its not sad, it just goes to show Ive got a mind
of my own and dont listen to 'staircase', s club 7 and
the rest just because everyone else does or because
theyre in the charts.
I didnt realise until last year how much people rate a
band's talent by their position in the charts. Most of
my friends laughed and said I should get out more when
I said Id gone to a Madness gig and the Ian Dury gig
etc. But when Lovestruck apppeared at number 10 in the
charts, everyone thought Madness were brilliant and I
was lucky to have seen them live. They didnt think
that for long. Just about as long as Lovestruck was in
the top 40.
Madness are once again considered 'talentless ' by the
majority of people my age. Well obviously: no chart
position, no talent. But just say 'Our House' or 'It
must be love' and everyone starts singing. I cant
honestly see the same thing happening in 10 or 20
years time if you say a Steps, sorry Staircase lyric
lyric.

Well i think ive had my say and Im just glad this list
exists so that I can meet and talk to people who value
a band by thier talent and personality, not thier
ability to colour co-ordinate with each other and mime
badly to a backing track.

PS I have one point to disagree with you on Simesy(and
I think Caz will agree!)

disagree!! Thank you!
