Folks,
Yep, there is certainly a lot of pap out there. Steaming stale pap at that.
But there always has been. Just watching this Music thing on C4 with Big
Phil J is enough to see that.
Thankfully there are though a number of bands, (yes, proper bands..with folk
who can play instruments and sing) flying the flag for music. Belle &
Sebastian are an example..while not everybodies cup of tea, but they are
doing it right.
The charts these days are drowning, in my lowly opinion, in a dead sea of
baws. it's all the same..a bunch of prettyboys (can one of them be sent to
jail, please?? What a giggle thatd be!! or even a closed doors gig at a
wedding in Parkhead- theyd be raped by a 15-Stone Monster in a peach trouser
suit with a wispy moustache before the chorus) singing a poncey ballad. If
you ask me, it's crying out for something new, fresh, a totally new
phenomenon................
And as for being a young Madness fan..I know where yer coming from
there...though for me there was no pisstake, and as it transpired most of
the lads liked them as well. Thankfully for us, there still is plenty of
maddies.. sometimes where you least expect them... That time in The CandyBar
for those that were there for example..Or when I was aaccosted in a club,
with ' oohh your mate tells me you were in a madness video!!!' Had I had my
Beer goggles on, well.. ;-)
And going back to Vince F's original point, Mr.Tilbrook played a gig just
down the road in Greenock. I missed it, but the review in the local paper
said it all. Fortunately, a good crowd did turn up for him, and they were
treated to a sensation gig with loads of interaction. Apparently, Glen
played in the crowd, walked about the club with them..and even took the
audience into....err..the gents. Now I've heard of LOADS of things happening
in Greenock toilets..but i've never heard of a gig in one!!
Band interaction, imho, is one of the best things about seeing a band
live..Madness have it, Crunch has it, and even on their debut MrSmash had it
with the Velvet Ghost. Bit difficult doing anything like that when your on
stage miming....
Well..That'll do from me for now..

See Ye's!

Stoo
