Then you should be well aware that embedded systems have severe technical limitations, and that embedded systems require very talented developers to implement things. > technically challenged. During the beta testing, no one ever talked about the TinySC replacing a real SqueezeBoxServer. Never. That was never expressed by the Logitech side, and never by the testers. The TinySC was a limited purpose "extra" that came along nearly for free since the basic unit had a real CPU and a real OS. Sadly, it wasn't as free as they expected when the product was designed. The basic player functionality was working last September. It was TinySC that took up all the extra time that made the product more than half a year late. > I have about 8000 songs > in a 60gig iTunes library on a 500gig Seagate FreeAgent USB powered > drive (i.e., no external power supply). I've not seen any internal product goals, I'm just a beta tester, but I will bet you a beer that supporting a 500 gb disk was never in scope. Supporting a 4GB thumb drive was. > I want to stress that I am a technical guy, a longtime and happy > Squeezebox owner, and a patient consumer. But seriously Logitech, how > hard can this be? As I wrote above, I don't think such a feature was ever on the product roadmap. I have zero internal information, this is all just IMHO -- Pat Farrell http://www.pfarrell.com/ _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
