I agree completely with the comments above that many (not all) in the audiophile press marginalize affordable server based playback systems - and affordable equipment in general. But to suggest that use of iTunes shows ignorance of the potential of this technology is off base. Ripping with iTunes to ALAC gives many audiophiles excellent results, and allows for easier integration with Apple hardware they use on a daily basis. I choose not to use iTunes for several reasons, but sound quality is certainly not one of them.
