Thanks Aubuti, that is quite fascinating and I didn't know that. It does, however, beg the question why a digital output wouldn't simply be an actual digital output of the bits (ie more like an ethernet port with error correction) to avoid those issues. An accident of history? And now no way to easily correct it without introducing an entirely new standard?
It would be interesting to know what the actual error rate of the digital out put of the SB3 and SB Touch actually wind up being in practice.
