Hi Cfraser, I did some A/B comparaison this morning. Here are my findings. SPDF is Transparent digital $500.00 Toslink Generic plastic 10.00
The Tansparent cable has a more bodied sound that is less shrill. Less sibilance. Overall presentation is more robust in the bass. Toslink has more treble and is more lean. Because of that it sounds like it's like 1 db louder. It's is less forgiving on bad shrill recordings. Overall, the Transparent cable is a lot better. I will try to get a more decent Toslink cable and do some more comparaison. Will keep you posted.
