The way I see it, Pootle should support many different ways to
"retrieve" information and to "put" information.  Retrieving the files
from the web is conceptually no different than getting them from CVS or
Subversion.  I would hope that Pootle developers are planning to
completely abstract this layer so that it would be trivial to provide
other pull/push mechanisms, if not for the plethora of version control
systems.
