People like what they know even if it is bs.Windows often throws up weird errors and bloatware tries to extort money out of them, and they always hear stories of ransomware. It is often easier to 'trust' the computer and leave it alone as much as possible. So people get terrified of any suggestion to change, because change on Windows usually does not end well.
