Glenn to Davel - Sometimes what you tell me you believe is not what Mormonism teaches. I don't have a problem with that. In fact, I am glad you don't always agree with Mormon doctrine. For example, the Mormon doctrine that; people are under the influence of Satan because they follow the Bible only in it's present form. You don't seem to believe it the way it is worded in the BoM.DAVEH: I would counter that you are not taking those passages in context with the rest of the BofM and LDS theology.
Question, do you believe I am under the influence of Satan because I follow the Bible it's present form?DAVEH: As you know, I hesitate to judge anybody. I don't feel it is my place in life to determine whether you follow Satan or not......regardless of why. Your judgment will come from the Lord before it will come from me.
Just give me a yes or no. I will not be offended if you say yes.DAVEH: If you wish to pick a specific act that you do or believe because of your belief in the Bible, then perhaps I would suggest that Satan had an influence in your action. For instance, IF you have ordained a woman into a priesthood clergy, I would suggest that your action had been the result of Lucifer's influence, as I don't believe the Bible allows such and I do believe it is contrary to the will of God. A case could be made that you would be "under the influence of Satan" for doing such, but as I've explained numerous times previously......it would NOT be because you "follow the Bible it's present form", but rather because you don't adhere to the Lord's will that is NOT included (for whatever reason) in the Bible. Does that clarify it to the point you can understand it, Glenn? If not, I'll try to explain it in another way. But I would think this above explanation is adequate. To me it makes a lot of sense, and is precisely the nature of the BofM's explanation that you think I don't believe. You seem to forget that the Bible is one of our Standard Works and is to us, the Holy Word of God. IF......and that is a BIG IF, we thought the Bible brought people under Satan's influence, then we would outright reject it. Obviously that is NOT the case, as we embrace the Bible as the Word of God. We just don't view it as the ONLY Word of God or the COMPLETE Word of God.
What does upset me is Mormonism trying to put a nice face on some wildly false doctrines.DAVEH: Well Glenn, I'm sorry I upset you so. All I can do is explain my beliefs the best I can, and explain LDS theology as I understand it.
I am more upset with your beating around the bush in order to not say directly something. Blaine calls this "Mormon wisdom". I call this deceit.DAVEH: You can call it anything you want. But to me you seem to have a preconceived notion of what I should believe and am then unhappy when I don't fit the mold into which you are trying to stuff me. If you want to know my belief, just ask. If I fail to explain it in a simple enough fashion that you can understand, just ask again and again. Each time I will try to explain it in a simpler and different form so that I hope you will eventually understand what I'm trying to convey.
--Again, see the underlined phrase. I do believe you have spinned so much you believe your own spin.
DAVEH: I know what I believe. But you seem to want to impose "your own spin" on what you think I believe.
