jt: You may sin but you should not possess sin, nor should sin possess you.  We must learn to hate evil and to separate ourselves.  So whenever we do slip we go to our advocate and repent; this is how we overcome.  Put on righteousness and sin not....

BT: I'm not sure exactly what you mean about sinning but not possessing sin; other than that I agree with you. Moreover, we have an Advocate even before we slip and repent.

jt: Legally yes, but just like a lawyer we've not yet paid and hired - he doesn't work unless we come to Him on His terms.
A defeatist mentality is sin in itself because it's not from God.

BT: Who's got this? From where does that language come?

jt: I'd say the majority of those who profess to serve Christ have it and it comes by way of the adversary. The reason he is so successful is because there is so little spiritual discernment in the body of Christ.  We must first recognise sin before we can take responsibility for it, resist, renounce, and repent of it.  We must have our senses exercised to discern between good and evil.

I know the Victor and from where my victory comes. Gal 2.20 -- "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me, and that life I now live in the flesh I live by faith which is of the son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me."

jt: That's a good confession but is it a reality in your daily walk Bill?   judyt

john: boy, I"M confused.   Salvation by faith apart from works
people believe this.  So I as a Christ can and do possess sin and that
is the way it should be (or is) as long as I am headed in the right
direction.  Amen sister.

sin possess you.  We must learn to hate evil and to separate ourselves.
