I would appreciate Sladeâs slant on the Hebrew mindset re: âconverse theologyâ.  Izzy

Actually the biblical message is repleat with examples of this.   The oriental mind was not analytical  to the same degree the Western thinker was.   An example?   There are literally hundreds of them in the text.  When  someone asks, "what must we do to be saved" such a question was answered in different ways on every occasion.   How do we answer that question?  By giving the listener a full picture  --  all the steps.   The biblical author did not do this .

Peter tells us that "baptism saves" without any concern given to the fact that we are saved by grace through faith apart from works of Law.   The reader is left to fend from himself.

Paul tells us that we are saved by "confession"  (Romans 10   --  "...with the heart man believes unto righteousness; with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.")

James tells us that pure and undefiled religion is  ......  benevolent and caring activity.  Is that the full picture of true religion?

I Co 11:6 insists that a woman in church should have her head covered  --  with no regard for the cultural implications of this adominition.

Mark 16:15-18 has Christ giving different wording in the Great Commission than in Matt 28:18-20.

The story of the resurrection morning is told differently in the gospel accounts  -- with no regard to the problems this causes the reader.
