An acquaintance opened a conversation recently by saying "Well Lance you just can't get around the Scriptures, can you?" (He was speaking of his newfound Scriptural understanding concerning women and their role in the Churches of Christ - that being that they might fill any role filled by a man)I, once and for all, am nor more a Calvinist than you are a Dakeist.

Now, let me as direct and clear as I can be, Judy. Might there arise some set of circumstances which would lead to you, one day, being in the same position as Hymanaeus & Philetus? IFF this MIGHT be the case then, is it fair to your understanding to suggest the same POSSIBLE OUTCOME for everyone on TT?

Please clarify for me the following:
1. Israelite believers who came to 'not believe'

They were God's Covenant ppl who came out of Egypt with Moses Lance, the ones
born under the Law, just like Jesus was.

Christian believers who came to 'not believe'.

There are a lot of examples in scripture - unless you are a Calvinist, in which case you
will need to explain them away because these scriptures will conflict with your doctrine.

Hymanaeus & Alexander who made a shipwreck out of their faith; (note they had it to start with)
Hymanaeus and Philetus (2 Tim 2:17)
The man who was disfellowshipped because of fornication if he did not repent (1 Cor 5:3)
are just a few - I'll leave it to David to expand because he does it so much better than me...

Expand a  bit, please. Are you saying that Jude is saying that there is a one for  one
parallel between the two? What does Scripture teach concerning their  eternal destiny?

As for salvation - there is only one way and just one standard; the Old Covenant folk come
the same way we do with the fearful, unbelieving, sorcerers, and everyone who loves and
makes lies standing outside the gate.   jt
