Imagine the following use case: - - An opportunity for selling a Laptop is created for party A. - - You convert the opportunity to a sale and before accepting the sale the laptop customer calls you that also wants a keyboard and a mouse. If we work at line level the opportunity must be modified, the previous sale canceled, and create a new one. If we work at document level you can create a new sale and cancel the previous one. Working on line level you lose the original opportunity (the one with one laptop) as you have to create it with the keyboard and the mouse.
