Mixing text in different encodings in the same file is asking for
trouble, IMHO. Some editors may try to 'fix' illegal byte
sequences in the file, thereby mangling the translations not in
the same encoding.

I may be able to automate the process (though probably not before
the next release). Should I (try to) do this?
