Tony, Just for the record, I'd like to think that I'm a "real" developer too - currently buried in a production planning system, soon to be followed by enhancements to bloodline management! By keeping our hands "dirty" we get to feed good ideas (ours & other developers) back into Visage, based on the issues we (as developers) face every day. I also think that it is inevitable that the "tool" plays an important part in the outcome of a competition like this - I know we couldn't have achieved the results we did last year in the allotted time just using hand crafted/EDited code, just as I'm sure that Kevin leveraged the strengths & capabilities of SB+, and the other contestants played to the strengths of their chosen tool (or ED/AE?) It WILL be interesting to see if anything is salvaged from the challenge for next year, and if so, what form the competition will take. Personally, as I've expressed to the organizers, I'd like to see the competition opened up to "outsiders" using tools like Visual Studio/Eclipse/Java and databases like Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 etc .... If the multi-value paradigm is as good as "we" think it is, lets have a chance to prove it ?!? Of course if we (royal plural for the community) lost ... So, c'mon all of you multi-valued zealots, sign up now !!!
