My apologies for being so far behind in answering queries. In my own defence, I sometimes work nights and don't get up until noon my time, so we may be working at cross purposes. First - I have not seen any of the windows shown in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport. In fact, I have no idea how to open Apport in Unity without using a running program and at the moment indicator-weather has shut down. Secondly, there is absolutely nothing in /var/crash. Third, I am unsure what, if anything, I should do in this circumstance, to get you the information you desire. Where do I go from here?
