Joey, thank you for your proposal. Unfortunately there is one and only
one thing Esperanto cannot do: Take over words from other languages
without adapting them to its grammatical and phonetic structure.
Absolutely impossible. Where should we stop? The language is meant to
be easy. So we could adapt "backport" phonetically as "bekporto"* -- but that already has a (nonsenical) meaning in Esperanto ("beek carrying"). It is much easier to adapt it semantically. The word "retroport(aĵ)o", which has been proposed, seems quite suitable; in fact it was the first thought that crossed my mind even before I read the proposal. Karaj kolegoj, la vorto "retroportaĵo" ŝajnas konformi al la difino (kaj al mia ĝisnuna kompreno de "backport"). Ĉu ne? Salutojn, Aisano. Joey Stanford wrote: Sorry for the Crocodile talk....
