I re-bedded one of my port lights this weekend. Basically a simple task. The inside screws extend slightly into the outer "trim" ring so removal all screws prior to trying to remove anything. Work a putty knife behind the outside trim ring and it pops off. Then remove the inside portlight being careful not to damage the plastic trim piece that "levels" the port light.
Remove all caulking with a suitable scraper (the inside of the port light has a number of channels that hold caulk and this takes some time). I re-bedded with 4200. Takes about 2 hours.
