Victor: I have a 73 36-double cabin. The double track is stainless and made by Stanpro, or something like that. It is carried by Defender and is not cheap. The felt liner only lasts a few years. There is a while plastic double track that someone on the forum was going to try but I have not heard the results.
There are only three or four screws that hold the lower track in place and those are the only place that water can penetrate (at least on mine). As noted by others, I applied sealant to the holes and screws when replacing the track and have not had a leak problem since. I did replace my side windows with brown tinted safety glass. The tint film is sandwitched between the two pieces of glass and therefore cannot come off. When putting the glass back, apply sealant to the lower holes, mount the lower track, apply sealant to the holes in the top of the window, put the glass in the lower track, put the upper track on the glass and slide it in place. Replacing the screws can be fun. Haven't played with the windshield yet, but I did replace the portlights in the v-berth several years ago as some heavy seas just popped them inside. I found Becksons that were just slightly larger and cut the fiberglass to fit. They have four lugs to secure rather than the original Vetus which only had two hold-downs.
