Hey David.....if your grounds and neutrals are connected together on your boat 
you had better call a marine electrician cause that s a very big bozo no 
no....and as far as shire power being separated ? Not really a main panel will 
have grounds and neutrals on the same buss ...a sub panel will have them 
separated ..and certain instances where power is derived from isolation 
transformers
