Do you need a server that will handle a big load? Slimserver runs on quite small hardware. But if you need something nice, a Tyan Thunder K8WE would do nice. (single ide, 4 sata standard) You can then plug in something like an Areca ARC-1260 giving you 16 sata-II connections on a 16 lane pci-e slot. And you can add more ARC-1160 on the pci-x slots later.
It will be loud, and it will consume a lot of power.
