Wow, that's one expensive card.

For software RAID, you only need SATA ports - not a hardware RAID card.

I'm currently using 2 x Promise SATA150-TX4 cards (4 x SATA ports per
card) with 3 x 250GB drives on each card.

I need more space so I've got a Coolermaster Stacker [1] on order with
three of 4-in-3 drive trays [2]. To handle more drives, I've also
ordered a Supermicro 8-port SATA II card [3]

It should all arrive later this week.
