Hello, all Linux gurus.

I would be very greatful with some step-by-step guidance for setting up
my old laptop with Debian as a SC server. I tried the search, but didn't
come up with anything that seemed to fit my situation.

So far:
- Debian 2.6.18-6-686 installed, working, my external 250 GB NTFS USB
hard drive is mounted at /media/NTFS250 (where NTFS250 is the name I've
given the volume in Windows), files and folders are accessible.
- SC 7.3 installed using apt-get update & - SC 7.3 installed using
apt-get install squeezecenter, accessible from my windows PC via web
browser

Problem:
1. I can't set the Music folder in SC settings as
/media/NTFS250/FLACMusic, because /NTFS250 is not visible under /media,
there's only cdrom, cdrom0, floppy, floppy0 but no NTFS250
2. If I paste the correct path into the Music folder field, it is
accepted but no music is found when scanning.

Other:
3. This is way OT for this forum, but I can't seem to get SMB sharing
to work for the external HD. When mapping to the share from XP, I get
the pw prompt, enter my id and pw, click OK and the prompt just comes
right back. No error message. Of course, I can live with disconnecting
the USB HD from my server and connecting it to my other PC for adding
music, just thought there are lots of people here who could easily
answer this.

I'm really greatful to anyone wishing to help me out here. I am all new
to Linux, but very impressed with how well it runs on that old laptop,
and I'm convinced it will make a great little SqueezeCenter server for
my needs.
