I you do not need windows connection iteroperability reformat with a
native fileformat e.g. ext2 or ext3.

Samba will then not complain about set permissions.

If you really need ntfs compatiblility you need to check out ntfs-3g. I
have zero experience with this as I do not need the windows
interoperability. I can always just share disks via samba in a
network.

Besides, It would be up my acquaintances to get thier windows boxes on
my network if they want my music not for me to unplug my music server
so that I can plug it in to thier PC!

just my 2 cents.

Evaluate the need for NTFS compatiblity and if you really do not need
it throw it out.

I'm working on getting squeezecenter 7.3 running on a NSLU2 with full
debian etch and a 1TB disk to share my music at home. No success jet on
squeezecenter but the slug is working well with etch. Maybe I will
succeed eventually.

Clark connect seems to be a little overkill imo
