Deciding to sleep a desktop when the screen has gone blank and input
devices have not been used for a while is an easy decision: the user's
obviously gone or doesn't care about the machine.

On a server this is much more tricky. How much networking is
"significant" activity ? Should it go down when some users connected
are idle, but in fact not done with it ?

You could use the srvPowerControl plugin (see the 3rd Party Plugins
sub-forum). It can put the computer running SqueezeCenter to sleep when
players are idling, among other things.

You'll need to provide the plugin with a command to put the computer to
sleep (this doesn't seem to be a problem obviously), and to make sure
your computer can wake-up on "WOL packets" which are sent by players
when they can't connect to the server right away.
