I run XUbuntu 8.04, however I keep a screen and keyboard on it. The computer is setup never to sleep (as I do not see how it could know that you are playing music or not). so I should have no problem without the screen or keyboard, although I did not test.
I have made a small perl script that periodically check if there is any player playing (or anybody logged in), if not for some time, then the computer is shutdown (it could as well be hibernated or put to sleep). I use the WakeUpOnLan of the controller to wake it up / reboot it. This is quite reliable. Sometime the reboot is very long as it may do its periodic fsck, but this is a minor annoyance. There is also a public plugin to control shutdown from the controller. This may be another option. I hope that this may help finding an alternative to your problem. -- bitli ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bitli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20084 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56452 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
