Hmmh.

Not sure if that helps. I'd guess that as soon as you call
amixer/alsamixer, you'll find the same useless stuff in asound.state.

I do know that a hell lot of firmware doesn't really initializes
properly towards Alsa. Most drivers/firmware are crap in this regard. 
I did sent a HifiBerry DAC back the other day, because of a crappy
driver. It's ridiculous that many designers seem to be 
happy as longs as plain 16/44.1 makes it to the output.

I'd check with the guy who's in charge for the Wandboard driver to get
things properly initialized.
