I did consider sending Apple a support request and asking if they could
remove all "Delete" buttons from their own apps, and anything supplied
via the Apple store, as the "Delete" button is incredibly confusing to
anyone other than experienced users, but I figured they would laugh at
me.

Mum (having got this from Microsoft) has the concept that anything
deleted, is not really deleted. It's just hidden until you want to get
it back.

My Mum also uses a Tesco grocery shopping app on that iPad. If I'm ever
feeling sad, I just need to schedule a visit to her on shopping delivery
day. It's a laugh a minute when the Tesco delivery driver is handing her
packs of Nappies the size of a small car, and she is scratching her head
and saying to him that she didn't actually order nappies, all her
children are grown up, but she doesn't seem to have been given the milk
she thinks she did actually order.......
